What is a Hypnotherapist?

A Hypnotherapist is an individual who guides another into the alpha state of awareness by using a variety of techniques to help the subject bypass his or her conscious, analytical, outer mind in order to reach the subconscious, intuitive, inner mind. This is similar to a person taking a bypass on the freeway, thus avoiding a crowded city, in order to reach a destination more quickly.
The human mind works on two levels: the outer conscious level and the inner subconscious level. You can better understand this by visualizing the planet Earth. The conscious mind can be likened to the solid land masses, while the subconscious to the fathomless oceans. Hypnosis is a refined form of communication that harmonizes your conscious and subconscious minds.
You need to desire something consciously before you can instruct your subconscious to achieve it. Problems arise only when these two selves are not in harmony, when what you think you want is not what you really want.
Hypnosis does not perform miracles overnight, but it can help heave anchors. Reprogramming your mind with hypnosis can help you control or eliminate habits, create a positive new identity for yourself, and develop talents and abilities. A person can be taught to do Self-Hypnosis, which is an important adjunct to working with a Hypnotherapist.

Private/Individual Sessions: Private/Individual sessions consist of one on one time with me. Usually 60-75 minutes for the first session, then 50-60 minute sessions thereafter. It is recommended that you see me for at least three sessions to establish a strong basis of positive suggestions to begin to affect change.
Group Sessions: Generally scheduled when there are a number of people interested in achieving the same goals, such as losing weight, stopping smoking, or Self-Hypnosis. Groups should consist of 5-9 people and will be scheduled on an as needed basis.
Telephone Sessions: Telephone sessions work much like the Private/Individual sessions. I have found these sessions to be just as effective as face-to-face sessions. Telephone work can be important for shut-ins, non-ambulatory persons, or for those who are more comfortable in their own homes.
